Marlina, a young widow, lives alone deep in the remote hills of an Indonesian island. One day, a gang appears with the intention of raping her and stealing her cattle. Mouly Surya was born in 1980 in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is considered one of the most promising female filmmakers in Indonesia. After earning her BA in Media and Literature from Swinburne University, Melbourne, Surya obtained an MA in Film and Television from Bond University, Queensland. Besides making films, she teaches a directing class in Jakarta. Her debut film, Fiksi, won numerous awards including Best Director at JIFFEST 2008. It premiered internationally at the 13th Busan International Film Festival. What They Don't Talk About When They Talk About Love (2013) is her second feature.
